What the Chamber Provides

The Clemson Area Chamber offers this service complimentary to members who meet eligibility criteria.

Our team will:

  • Coordinate with your business to confirm the date, time, and logistics
  • Supply the official orange ribbon and giant ceremonial scissors
  • Promote your event across Chamber communication channels (newsletter, social media, and website event listings)
  • Attend your event with staff to welcome guests and introduce your business
  • Take photos to share with your team and include in Chamber publications

Your Role as the Host

Your business plays a key role in making your Ribbon Cutting shine.

Hosts are encouraged to:

  • Provide light refreshments or snacks (optional but recommended)
  • Prepare a few brief remarks to introduce your business and thank attendees
  • Invite staff, customers, family, and friends
  • Share your event details on your own social media platforms
  • Provide your logo, flyer, or digital invitation for Chamber promotion
  • Have parking and space ready for 20–75 attendees, depending on your location

Timing: Events are typically held on weekdays between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM to ensure maximum visibility and Chamber attendance.

Ribbon Cutting Policy

Purpose

The Clemson Area Chamber of Commerce offers Ribbon Cutting ceremonies as a complimentary service to celebrate and support our members who are opening a new business, relocating, or significantly expanding within our service area. These events provide an opportunity to introduce a business to the community, generate publicity, and strengthen local connections.

Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for a Ribbon Cutting ceremony, the following criteria must be met:

  • Active Membership – Business must be a current, active Chamber member in good standing.
  • Business Age – Business must be newly opened, relocated, under new ownership, or significantly renovated or expanded within the past 18 months.
  • Service Area – The business must be located within the Clemson Area Chamber of Commerce service area, which includes Clemson, Central, Pendleton, and Six Mile.

Scheduling Guidelines

  • Event Timing: Ribbon Cuttings must be scheduled during Chamber business hours:

Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM

  • Notice Period: A minimum of seven (7) days’ notice is required to schedule your event. Exceptions may be granted if the Chamber calendar permits, at the discretion of the President or designated staff.
  • Coordination: The business will coordinate with Chamber staff to finalize date, time, and logistics. A promotional flyer or event image may be provided for marketing use.

Chamber Support & Attendance

  • Chamber staff will provide ribbons, ceremonial scissors, and promotional support.
  • Two Chamber representatives will attend to provide a welcome and introduction.
  • Attendance by Chamber board members is encouraged but not guaranteed.

Exclusions

Businesses that do not meet the eligibility criteria may not qualify for a Chamber-facilitated Ribbon Cutting.

Non-member businesses or those outside the 18-month qualification window are encouraged to contact the Chamber for other visibility opportunities such as Business After Hours hosting, sponsorships, or marketing features.
